Rodney A. Ellis, Ph. D.

Rodney A. Ellis, PhD, LCSW, CMAT, CSAT is the Director of
the Path of Hope program, an associate of Agape Faith-Based Counseling,
and an Associate Professor of Social Work at The University of Tennessee,
College of Social Work. His post-graduate certifications include Certified Multiple
Addiction Counselor and Certified Sexual Addiction Counselor. He has more than
18 years experience as a therapist, including work with people with Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder, behavioral and substance addictions, depression, and
anxiety. His treatment approaches include the use of traditional techniques,
such as cognitive-behavioral therapies as well as several progressive
methods such as bilateral stimulation, creative visualization, energy psychology, and mindfulness meditation.
As a researcher Dr. Ellis’ interests include the treatment of addictions, the treatment of trauma,
and cultural competence in practice. He is the author of numerous articles in academic and
professional journals, the author or co-author of four professional books, and the editor of a fifth. He
also recently published a book on motorcycling, The Old Man’s Guide to a Brand
New Ride.
